Reversing Insulin Resistance & Diabetes: Sugar Builds Healthy Cells
Glucose sugar is the primary source of energy for the body obtained from carbs in the diet and an important source of energy and nutrients for your body’s organs, muscles and nervous system.
Glucose is the primary source of energy for your brain. You obtain glucose from carbohydrates in the food you eat – this sugar is an important source of energy and provides nutrients to your body’s organs, muscles and nervous system. The reason glucose is crucial for our body’s well being is because our liver needs to be able to manufacture glycogen for energy. Glycogen serves as a form of energy storage in animals, fungi, and bacteria and it is the main storage form of glucose in the human body. Glycogen is derived and formed mainly from the consumption of glucose, fructose, and galactose – aka carbohydrates, white sugars/coconut sugars, fruits, milk or lactose sugars. A smaller amount of lactic and pyruvic acids, proteins, saturated fats are needed as well.
Plain and simple, the body needs glucose to function properly, it is the preferred fuel for your cells and is foundational for cellular health and healing.
The goal is for our body to produce healthy, thriving cells and the main goal of these cells is to survive and avoid necrosis (cell death). Cell health and survival is always going to be the first and foremost priority of our body’s use of energy. When obstruction, disease, sickness and toxins take over our body, it prevents our cells from thriving and focusing on the jobs they are designed to carry out. Instead, they’re focused on getting energy just to survive and heal themselves before they can even start to get to work on the tasks they have to complete in the body. If bodily systems are struggling, our cells will enforce specific survival measures in order to cope and survive and many will not live through the famine, dying off without the creation of new cells to replace them. In other words, disease puts our cells in a state of survival mode and this means they have to clear out any dead and or damaged cells that are past the state of revival in order to preserve energy for the damaged cells that can be restored.
So when we take a closer look at sickness and disease, it is extremely important to look closely at the area that’s being affected and the specific processes that are struggling the most because that’s where the cells are taking the most hits and damage. Those are where your cells are living in survival mode and may even be starting to die off.
Glycogen, glucose and glucagon are all related to how your body uses its main source of energy from carbohydrates, but they all have different functions.
Glucose Stimulated Insulin Release
The way in which glucose is utilized by the body, depends on whether it's consumed during a meal or formed during a period of fasting, aka no glucose intake.
You can either consume glucose or force your body to manufacture it by pulling it from whatever and wherever it can in your body, regardless of the consequences. These specific pathways in which glucose is manufactured while “fasting” are designed by the body to be used as back up mechanisms, because we’re not perfect and miss meals sometimes, and/or in emergency situations. In a sense, if you’re never consuming glucose, your body is always in a state of “fasting” in order to manufacture glucose for the cells. And if your body is constantly using these pathways to manufacture glucose instead of you simply consuming glucose to be utilized, it puts an enormous strain on the entire system as a whole, especially on our cells and our hormones. In my opinion, it’s not about having high or low blood sugar, it’s about having a completely dysregulated system and total imbalance in our blood sugar levels, a state of survival. Believe it or not, there are so many different ways you can implement natural sugars, honey and carbs into your diet in healthy and balanced ways.
